This is Wine School x I Vini Del Piemonte

Piedmont Student Trip

April 6-10th, 2027 // 5 days + 4 Nights in Piemonte

April 11-14th, 2027 // Vinitaly in Verona (Optional)

Though the structure of WSET and classroom learning is the foundation of what we do, traveling to a wine region is the thing that really makes it ‘click.’ Seeing the hills and rivers and feeling the cool fog settling over a bricco and into the woodland ripe with truffles cements the understanding of what Barolo and Barbaresco actually mean!

As a school we have always aimed to find ways to provide diverse and democratic educational experiences to everyone, so we are excited to share this special “student” trip. Based on the structure of the trip, we recommend this to students of WSET Level 3 and above (or people working in wine & hospitality), as the amount of information might be overwhelming even to the sharpest and most engaged wine enthusiasts - and we don’t want to throw you into the fire without a little warning.

Whether you work in Italian wine and want to better understand the MGAs on the labels of Barolo or are excited to learn and explore new and niche white grape varieties like Nascetta and Arneis, this is a trip that will put you in the context of all that is classic and up-and-coming in Piedmont.

5 days + 4 nights in Piemonte April 6-10th, 2027 ☞ DOC Langhe - Roero - Barolo - Barbaresco - Nizza DOCG ☞

Five days of winery visits, masterclasses and tastings to immerse yourself in a region fully and wholly. To be clear, this trip isn’t a vacation: it is a crash-course in the wines of Piedmont, providing the opportunity to taste hundreds of examples of the major grape varieties of the region, heaps of classic DOCG wines and the opportunity to visit producers in their cellars. Additionally, you’ll be in a group with many other engaged wine students from around the world, so there is ample opportunity to make connections and friendships with other wine students as much as see the wines and the region itself!

Discover the world-renowned wines and culinary traditions of Piemonte on a five-day educational journey through the Langhe, Roero, Barolo, Barbaresco, and Nizza DOCG areas.

Based in Alba, this bootcamp combines exclusive winery visits and tastings with local producers, educational focus sessions, traditional lunches, and four special wine dinners, each featuring carefully selected pairings and a menu created especially for the occasion.

The experience also includes 4 nights’ accommodation with breakfast, daily tour leader and assistance, airport transfers, private bus service, winery visits, tastings, lunches, and wine dinners.

They take care of every logistical detail—from hotel accommodations and private bus transfers to carefully selected restaurants—so you (students of wine) can focus entirely on the learning experience.

  • In-Depth Masterclasses: Exclusive sessions led by our top wine communicators and experts, designed to introduce the history, geology, and appellations of Piemonte.

  • Winery & Vineyard Experiences: Technical visits guided directly by winemakers and oenologists. A diverse range of producers—from small family-run estates to large historic cellars—to showcase different production styles, soil variations, and vineyard management.

  • Tailored Tastings: Advanced tasting sessions that can include barrel samples, older vintages, and a comprehensive look at the region's diverse portfolio (exploring our outstanding whites and sparkling wines, not just Nebbiolo).

  • Piemonte Culinary Heritage & Networking: Gourmet lunches and exclusive dinners hosted alongside the wine producers themselves, allowing students to interact directly with the makers. We can also include unique local experiences, such as authentic truffle hunting.

I Vini del Piemonte has a proven track record of successfully organizing these immersive trips for prestigious institutions across Northern Europe, including the Norwegian Sommelier Education (NSU), the Danish Sommelier Education (DSU), the Swedish academy The Wine Hub, etc.
